8DOF was made like ready ergonomic console to have features in front of you.
Basically we want you to look on Talent, not in the monitor.
Basically 8DOF made with TouchDesigner and can be used with all it’s features.
Graphic user interface and all 3D engines connected with 8DOF protocol.
You can start producing the show without any knowledges in programming: just upload 3d model of the venue or choose one of the prebuilded location in 8DOF universe.
Put fixtures from library to design your setup, control and program the set and save the scene parameters in cue lists.
Synchronize any parameter with sound, sequenser notes or internal
wave signals to get maximum from soundreactive and realtime generation.
Test you setup, play it, train yourself in showrun control, show it to the client.
On venue just connect your 8DOF computer with the equipment and perform in real.
You can use any software which produce content with supported file’s format.
For example 8DOF is waiting for .fbx files of detailed, animated 3D objects with UV textures. Or .obj files for simple meshes.
The same way with video, audio and many more supported files to be integrated in setup.
You can skip this step and use tons
of build-in content
If you want to manipulate your content, you need to attach controllers.
For example 3D character needs to be assigned with
motion-capture skeleton and face tracking tool, lighting fixture needs color and, maybe, beam mover controllers. Camera in virtual production is waiting for data from position and lens tracking systems etc.
This is 8DOF basical principal of system organization.

When all objects attached the most creative process begins. Play and create the scenario for you CG-content, mocaps, real equipment, music and any other object that is mathces with its input or output data.
No more protocol’s or hardware inplementation’s borders.

Just be in sync with Pioneer ProDjLink from the mixer or use Ableton link...
Another case - you will generate internal time for gallery interactive installation or music performance with your friends.

If yes, just understand how the equipment works.
For this, objects were created and physical parameters can be attached to them.
In this moment, virtual lighting object starts sending artnet data to control real fixture, or you can use motion capture suit system to control character in realtime.
Understanding how the equipment works is big part of the way and we prepare a lot of solvers to make it easy.
This part is for warriors, who can try their skills in real world
Now it happenes. You are on real venue. You were working in virtual for several weeks. You are ready, you test all in virtual and you need to bind 8DOF protocol to the inputs of the real setup.

Timecode or Quants?
We use frame mesurement in TimeCode and QuanT synchronization with dj-tools simultaneously.
Jump from TC cues to QT cues and then to FreePlay cues. That's only you need after programming
Common parameters list now transmited for all software and client. You can get them in any software with 8DOF plugins or popular protocols like OSC.
